A little story today.
My grandparents and generally all of my family were very active at the time of WW II. Poland was a terrifying place, but none of them ever emigrate. I gravely respect them for that, but there is the other side of the coin. They saw and experienced horrible things, one of them was hunger. When war had just started and people were yet quite supportive hunger was one of the main problem in my family. But not in a whole city. At that time there was strong zoning on the jewish part of the city and well… rest of it. Most of the shops were jewish so they were deciding about prices and destination of goods. Times went worse, prices went higher and higher and people started blaming Jews for it. Then come Holocaust and everything changed, no one was thinking about money and everyone wanted just to survive. Like I said, it was a inhumane time, friends become enemies and families were tearing apart. My family had always respected Jews and had never been anti-semitic, but since that time they have never formed any kind of friendship with anyone who’s Jewish. So when I came to the wedding last weekend with my boyfriend who’s undeniably Jewish with his dark hair and characteristic nose they gave me a really long moment of silence.
And I just wonder, how is that possible that war that have never touched my parents, uncles and cousins is carve in their hearts so hard?

I’ve just come back from Przystanek Woodstock.(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Przystanek_Woodstock)
So I probably should start from the fact that my homeland is Poland. It’s a beautiful country with an amazing history but also quite intolerant. If you want to be respected, being a part of any subculture is pretty difficult here. Wearing dreadlocks, having a tattoo or simply not being a catholic can make your life really hard. So imagine my delight when I came to the place where everything and everyone are just… free. Free from social pressure, other people expectations, stereotypes, free from trying to be good enough.
I have never met so many extraordinary, unconventional and fascinating people before. And I’m so grateful for every single story they share with me.
Oh, and I’ve learned how to smoke pot from empty can of beer. Bang!

I read once that letting go is the hardest part, I disagree, hardest part is moving on, truly moving. You can be with someone else and be happy with it, you can hope that all you need is time and pretend that you’re over the past. But sill be stuck in it. One look at that special person and you’re unable to speak, unable to breath.

"I know who you are."

"You do?"

"You’re the guy who thinks he’s invisible."

"I have a name-"

"It isn’t important. Because you really don’t think it’s important."

"All right. Since we’ve started out this way, let me just tell you, I know you too."

"Yeah?"

And so many things were taken from us too soon.
